The winter 2012 issue is our eightieth issue of The BOXCAR Newsletter. Volume 1 contained current addresses for about forty-five 178th Veterans, a report on Reunion #1 in 1991 in Arlington, Virginia, and information about the planned Reunion #2 in Nashville, Tennessee in 1992.

This issue contains 418 current addresses, and 2012 President John Engle's information for Reunion #22, next September in Williamsburg, Virginia.

178th and 132nd 2012 REUNION

The 178th Boxcar and 132nd Hercules Reunion will be held in
Williamsburg, Virginia September 26th through September 30th, 2012

Hotel: The hotel that was selected is the Patriot-Williamsburg Holiday Inn, 3032 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185. It's a full service hotel located close to all the attractions in the Williamsburg area: (Colonial Williamsburg, Shopping Outlets, Restaurants, Busch Gardens, Fort Eustis, Yorktown Battlefieled, and Jamestown). The rooms feature either two queen size beds or one king size bed, refrigerator, microwave, flat screen television, and internet service. A free continental breakfast is provided at the hotel's restaurant. An Indoor and Outdoor pool are available with a hot tub, and exercise room add to your fun.   Hotel Website

Cost: Now that I have told you about the hotel, the cost per room is $59.00, plus tax per night, and this rate is available 3 days prior and 3 days after the reunion, if you want to tour the Williamsburg area. Make your reservation early so that you get your choice of bed and not later than 14 days before the reunion. When calling the hotel to make your reservation, let the operator know you are making your reservation for the 178th ASHC and 132nd ASHC reunion to get the $59.00 rate. Activities: Coordination is being made with Fort Eustis for a tour of the airfield, to include the Chinook unit, currently designated Freight Trains, they have been to both Iraq and Afghanistan. A tour of the aircraft mechanics course, and a visit to the Transportation Museum, which covers history of transportation for the Army, ground vehicles, rail, aircraft and sea.

Additionally there is Colonial Williamsburg, historic Jamestown, Yorktown Battlefield, James River Plantations and Prime Shoping Outlets.

Transportation: Williamsburg is located next to Interstate 64 for those driving. There are two airports that service the area: Newport News and Norfolk. Rail service is available into Newport News. You will need to coordinate ground transportation from those locations.
